Finally Cable Competition and How MoveOn Killed the Internet

Cable is going to have competition and the RBOC are supposed to be our savior. We opened the door to competition will they walk through it? They told us in 96 that they would compete and nothing happened except cheap cell phones. But we are now letting them compete. Damn you Verizon you better get in the market and give me some choice. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. I have a long memory and if you don't compete you better believe you are on the list.

It was a little anti-climatic I wanted an old telco fight instead I was treated to a MoveOn tongue lashing. Sell outs, if you are going to call the office have the decency to use a map of the district to make up addresses have some pride in your work. Man, there are people out there that can demagogue this issue to death.

Why didn't these new companies come to the table? You have respect on the Hill use it to your advantage. Is playing the game selling out or is the way to win in business? Well you lost so you draw your own conclusion. The Markey amendment failed today. But why did it fail? The amendment was on Network neutrality not Internet Neutrality. It wasn't even a fight about future vs Luddite service providers. It was a being out done by lobbyist. This bill saw the original two fighters RBOC vs. Cable work out their differences in providing cable competition. That left the new guys to run around on their own. You had the message and you lost...maybe that's a precursor for my party's fall chances.

What did happen today?
Well, the internet is now a congressional hockey puck to be batted around by partisan players, which sucks because the only people that suffer are the consumers. Thanks to MoveOn for killing the Internet. You were a tool for good now you are a tool for business. You made the one area where Congress just didn't interfere a partisan issue.

We woke a sleeping giant, new economy companies will recognize that in order to win in business you have to eliminate barriers and obstacles and by not talking to members of Congress you create 535 obstacles. Use your power for good, shit use your power.

We better take back the House. I can't stand this majority.
