DC Restaurant Review: Ben's Chili Bowl

Wow, i cant belive i havent done this review, yet. A DC institution, the place to go after a night out on U Street. I have been to Bens a couple of times when I was younger mostly after going to see bands at State of the Union, so we are talking a hiatus of atleast seven years. Not much has changed, great after a night out food. Chili fries, with great chili, spicy and no beans; half smokes with chili the only thing to get and great atmosphere. You will see everyone in here.

After the concert we cruised over for some food. When we walked in i struggled with wether I was going to have a dog or chili fries or both. I was afraid that if I got both i was going to be hit with a bowel bomb, so i opted for just the fries. Damn they were good. Freshly fried with a great proportion of cheese and chili. I am going to have to seriously hit the gym. On the menu they have everything and realize that everything is cooked on the grill or fried. i dont think the cleanthe grill which is good, that's where the secret flavor comes from.

Some bad things about Ben's: bright lights in the big city...i guess the lights are meant to sober you up or realize that the person you are hitting on really isnt that great looking. Thats it for bad things and just on this night some asshole New Yorker was causing a ruckus, take your open shirt, gold chain wearing ass out of ben's you jerk off.

Good things about Ben's: Its classic. The food is awesome. The service is quick and efficient and the food is really good. Just dont try and conquer it one sitting.

DC Scale: I dont think it is fair to rate this place because it really s just a great place. If I had to rate it I would say that this is an Amendment a solid foundation of cooking in DC.
