Approps vs Commerce

I have had the honor and privilege to serve on two of the most powerful committees in the House of Representatives. Energy and Commerce is what gave me my perspective on the Hill...basically we need competiton and watch out for the consumer...

approps so far has been an ugly beast..first there is no legislating... well its non traditional if we want something we have to fund an office or departmen to do it... second it is a different breed of staffer..closed off but they fund the government...

On Commerce you can write policy to change the nation..on approps you can fund programs above and beyond to help people...Commerce sees about fifty percent of all floor legisaltion..approps has to pass all there bills or agencies and departments can't operate.

the question you have to ask yourself is simple...is justifying one's budget a good policy setting tool? Do you want number crunchers who scrutinize spending to determine the benefit of a program?

Ihave to see how this goes... I hope someone on this committee see's the big picture.
