Hopper was one of the most beloved painters in American history. His work captured the beauty on New England's lighthouses, sunlight's play on buildings and the solitude of urban life. Its currently at the Natinal Gallery of Art and it is a great retrospective of his work. He does such a great job of capturing moments of life that anyone can relate to. it was said that he was the only true American surrealists. Go and check out the the exhibit.
