Magnolia v Georgetown Cupcakes Blogfare, Really?

Frank Bruni from the NY Times Dining Guide Blog talks about delicious Georgetown Cupcake or as he calls it a Cupcakery. The posts for this article start off nice but turn quickly into blogfare. Magnolia v Georgetown Cupcake really does one cupcake have to reign supreme! They are both awesome. Regional cooking is great because you get to try something familiar done in a different manner. For example, I love crabcakes in Baltimore but come to DC and it is totally different. DC is upscale and diverse vs a basic but all lump crabcake in B'more. We have the chance for cupcakes to take over and to spread, i would have preferred donuts to take over but cupcakes will do. Sorry my mind works in mysterious ways.

The difference in tastes are regional and thats all good. You can like what you want but think about it this way with all the globalization, Starbucks in the Forbidden City, isnt the fact that we have multiple Cupcakeries a good sign. Swim and love in our regional tastes and differences. You can like multiple curries, sometimes you need chicken adobo vs pork adobo, boxers and briefs. The point is simple, yeah we all have our favorites but if you dont try you never grow, grow in the good way not in the waistband way. Regionalism = diversity which means cupcakes for all!

I made a point to eat at Georgetown Cupcake before I left D.C. and it was heaven. We have a Palm Beach Cupcake here but it pales in comparison. What I wouldn't give for a vanilla with chocolate frosting right now. Or a Berger cookie for that matter...
