Eight is Enough

There was passion, motivation, a sense of purpose, intimacy, a lietmotif, why we need to fight, what's at stake and a vision for our country. I laugh I cried I was reminded why I do this job.

We, Democrats, have not punched back at the Republicans but this convention was the first salvo. Do you want four more years of decling wages, no helathcare, a aggressive and singleminded foreign policy. This was the redefintion of the election. We are going to fight this election on our terms our issues. This is not about experience but about what is great about America.

The speech was well paced for 42 minutes I was captured and didnt blink. I wasnt left wanting more i was left with a purpose.

It was a great convention speech, did it come close to MLK's speech 40 years ago, no...but it built on that visions of the way America can be. It reminded all of us what we can do as a country and why we historically have been the land of opportunity and freedom.

42 min? it seemed like 42 seconds. i can't even express what a thrill it was. i was absolutely dumbfounded. and, more importantly, i firmly believe he can do it. he is the best thing that could happen to america.

Honestly I was a little irked at first on his speech from all the "I" this and "I" that he threw around, but then there was the last ten minutes or so that took all that and turned it on it's head. The last half of his speech was brilliant. He was stern yet you can see sensitivity in his eyes. My favorite part of the speech is when he said this moment wouldn't be possible if he and Michelle didn't have decent schooling. It was personal and something people could grasp and see with in him. It was pretty good. In fact he should do a lot more of that to show he too is just another American trying to make things right. Show the American public it really isn't about him, but about "you". It just really was a brilliant closing. I rarely watch these things.

If he loses... Jesus, I can't even fathom that day.

Luv Scrubs. It's hilarious and poignant. Watch it here n there. Saw a couple on Comedy Ch before Obama's speech which were somewhat appropriate as well: the one Halloween episode pointing out the need to keep things 'real'; to keep a childlike energy to get by life's challenges and the other episode introducing Heather Locklear embodying the importance of taking big risks to give opportunity a chance. Of course based on the day after O's big speech that there are two approaches to the two points: one that is based on intelligence/thoughtfulness vs reckless/last stand i.e. McCain's VP choice in Palin(?). Bet your jazzed to be in DC:) WOW this is going to be a race.

i actually liked the "I" on his speech coz its personal, yet there is also that call that it cannot be done without everyones help. he doesnt assume that he can all do it, but he assures that he can do it as long as you allow him to do so.

@ Marge

I know Marge, that's why I said it irked me at "first" when he just kept saying "I wil change this", and "I will change that", like a laundry list of ideas without including people in Government already there ready to help him and MAKE change TOGETHER. Why did the "I" irk me... cause every goddamn president has said the same damn thing. So when I'm offered change I'd like to hear something a little different than the last guy. But like I said that's what made the last part of his speech brilliant because he turned it upside down. The "I" is "we". So in the end the "I"s made sense.

We are I... hee hee. It was like "He was Tyler Durden all this time?"

=)
