I am a Commuter

The cold morning air hit hard my unjacketed self. "Where is my jacket? Oh the car, fucking perfect." I climb in and I shiver in my seat waiting for the heater and seat warmer to crack the frozen car interior. The chatter of my teeth reaches my toes. "Cant wait must move. Should have taken the death tube(metro)." The drive this morning was like any other. I sing to entertain myself. "Dont go back to rockville. Waste another year. Bin-nin-nar de der, bin-nin-nar-de dar. It not as though I'd ever leave you. If you were here Id only tease you." Singing helps to warm my heart but the cold, winter light freezes my body. I zoom past cars only to be overtaken by rushing taxis. I rush only to to get stuck on traffic. The to do list builds in my brain. Im going to forget this. My mind drifts. The line i'm on isn't moving smoothly, but it has been the same line for months. Maybe it is me and the erratic blackberry driving. Maybe i'm stubborn or dumb. I don't notice anyone on the way to work. I see monuments and the tidal basin. I notice the Capitol.

And then you wonder how did I get here. Total autopilot. Man, I've been there. I've been there.
