Out of Context

I was at the 4th floor station after watching "The International." As I sat waiting for the Spanish women stand in bewilderment at the machine. A familiar voice form work broke my simmering anger. It was one of the first people to help our office, a defense lobbyist. We talked and chatted about the movie and what was happening. His daughter was having a sleep over with 9 girls. I paid, said my good byes and was off.

I like seeing work people outside of that familiar context. In fact I like seeing anyone out of context. It always seems surreal. One time in China I saw a high school friend in Shanghai. Our running into people in LA. Our even locally running into people at the movies or standing in line for cupcakes. Those few seconds of recognizing the person, being confused and refocusing is like doing nitrous, there is a disorienting resonating wong-wong-wong sound and then clarity. Mental sunrise.
