My friends brother and their crew drank the Beast and surfed lower streets and horse island. We could skate in the house and had to stand at attention when the Ramones played. Sieg and I worked for his brother renting bikes. It wasn't a job as much as a convenient way to go surfing. If the surf was up the shop was closed. He looked up to his brother, emulated him, wanted to be just like him.
"Hey, give me a dollar?" Sieg
"For what?" Me
"Umm, I'm going to get some tacos." Sieg
"Dude, you have food and a job that gives you money." Me
"C'mon, Just give me a dollar." Sieg's fists like to clench open and shot when he got insistent, "Alright, let me have a bite of your sandwich?"
"Dude, no."
The battle would continue.
If you were eating something Sieg lunged at it trying to grab what he could. A quick slapping parry was often countered with another quick lunge. I found the best counter to Sieg was if he had a drink or food out was to grab his food and eat it. Sieg could be stopped, Lou on the other hand was a monster who could devour planets. If Lou wanted your food you were basically cooked.
Sieg and I would go rounds over food, beer, the remote and basically anything that one person possessed which in our schemes had to be misappropriated for purely selfish gain. People thought he was dumb but we were all in this dumb prep school for a reason. We had a brain and could use it. He played dumb but would destroy tests. he had insight. However, he could never stop a boot-leg pass play on Sega Madden and at rugby he took awhile to reach full speed so you could smash into him easily.
"Dude, give me your sipa sipa?" Sieg
"I thought you bought one yesterday?" Me
"Just friggin give me it. dangit."
"Chill dude"
"We're playing on the terrace"
none of us were really any good at hacky-sack, I mean a few times around the circle then someone had to get fancy. Sieg liked to lift his arms up like a crane when he kicked the sipa sipa. It was hilarious to watch but he didn't care. Girls dug him, blond surfer dude with a Cadillac. He was genuine.
