What was the dish/meal that made you a foodie?
It started with garlic shrimp, a pheasant and orange sauce dish, and pine nut cake at Tio Pepe's. We went for my mom's birthday because she wanted paella. I don't know how old i was, 11 or 12, but I remember my mom saying that pheasant was like chicken but I should try something more my speed. I scoffed at her notion and i pushed forward. The dish was amazing, crispy skin, succulent meat with a crazy orange sauce that was citrusy and light but offset the savory chicken. The garlic shrimp was the first dish where I sopped up the sauce with bread. The pine nut cake was a rolled cake with an almond creme filling topped with pine nuts. It was that day that i realized there was a world of food to explore and that restaurants brought this food adventure into my world.
