5 Takes Pacific Rim: Hong Kong

I just caught this show and they are in Hong Kong. Hong kong is one of my favorite places in the world. I have been twcie for work and have been up to Victoria's Peak, had incredible views of the harbour, taken island tours, abused the Star Ferry and gotten into to much trouble in Wan Chai. Usually I get to Hong Kong after a a week or two in China. Trust my wether by bus or plane coming into HK from mainland China is like entering the Pearly gates.

Its weird seeing other peoples tour of an area. So they went to a tailor, Happy valley horse Races, the China Club, the Peninsula Hotel and took the tram up to Victoria's peak. Seeing the same thrill on their faces at the view or the craziness of the HK...mayb e it is just a western view of HK. Do pacific rimmers see it as i do? Last time i went I was with work people and they were going to stanley market I stopped for smokes and turned around and they were gone. Undeterred i thought it would be a good time to get some presents,I bought my nephew some Gundam toys, and some nick nacks. i cut through the mall a short walk from the ferry terminal and i swear it is just like Pentagon city. The only differnces was that they had a world cup store. I should have bought my England Jersey. after shopping i found a coffee shop and went in and there were three people from my trip all banging away at their lap tops. I find it comical to see work friends in foreign country. It seems so out of place and fimilar at the same time...

Today I wanted to talk about the Peninsula Hotel. Obviously world class...you have to go for High Tea. About $50 but well worth it. The tea was good and the biscuits were delightful. The Penninsula is very haughty but its a nice change of pace fromt he hustle and bustle of the city. So I also went to the Penisula Hotel for a private dinner. I got to in arguement from Beijing Univeristy about US-China relations. He claimed that we were exaggerating our IP concerns. Anyway...we had dinner at the Peninsula hotel but it was in a private dining room that was accessible only through a secret elevator. The above picture was from the room. It looked out over Victoria Harbor and the food was exceptional. I meet the producer and director of Shaolin Soccer. They had the pretzel rolls that were yummy. After dinner we went to the bar and the pissers are all glass walled and looks out over the city. The women's WC looks out over the harbor and the men's side looks out on Kowloon. If you have the means stay there if not go for tea it is worth it.
