El Bulli

The dream od many foodies is to eat at some of the world's greatest restaurants. Now I have had the honor to eat at many if ot all of DC's finest restaurants. I have been lucky or hungry take your pick but I havent been to many places outside of the region which disappoints me. Jay has been to a anumber of the country's best restaurants and it makes me jealous. i think my true calling in life is to be restaurant critic and I need to start that adventure right now!!! So I want to start with what hs to be th ebest restaurant in the world or El Bulli...somewhere I hear Jay is going to this restaurant which i cannot believe... so El Bulli and its chef Ferran Adria... Chef Adria has a 30 course tasting course and recent dishes have included parmesean ice cream sandwhiches and trout egg tempura...its about sensory overload....a good emal should hit all your senses, sight, smell, taste are the norm for a decent culianry expereince but add in texture and sound and you have a complete meal. What most food in DC lacks is the senory experince, you might get taste and smell but there is never texture or sound to a meal. Ilike to hear the craxckling of roast pig, and crunching through the crspy skin to get to the melty flvorful emat...so in that isnatnce lechon comes close but wht else is there???? Sjushi tatse good and looks nice but thats it. Steak can smell good, taste awesome , have that right off the girl sizzle but the texture isnt noticeable....I need to start my new career.

How do I get to El Bulli???-- The family is thinking Spaing this summer is it too late for reservations

Yes, unfortunately it is "too late" for El Bulli 2007. We checked and were turned down - evidently I don't have enough "juice." Yet.

But if you have the gumption, hop on a plane to Chicago this Saturday for a dinner at Charlie Trotter's. I have a reservation for 9:30p and it promises to be one of the top meals in America.

Otherwise, for an "El Bulli-esque" kind of experience, get a reservation at the Mini Bar in DC. Foams and all that stuff there.
