Darjeeling Limited

More Wes Anderson then you can shake a stick act...Three brothers on a quest in India to rebond and become a family unit. This is a Wes Anderson movie like all the others, quirky characters learning to overcome their issues and reconnect. It is about family units and it reminded me of my trips with my brothers and cousins. There is one scene where the older brother wants to hold onto the younger brothers passports....man oh man is that the Seed. The three brothers are cooped up in a pullman cart and having three grown men in such confined space will lead to friction a la our vacation at sea. But the movie is about moving past their pain and losing the baggage and becoming brothers. I thought it captured those familial relations and being stuck on a train nicely. I can see why people cant stand Wes Anderson movies. They are quirky at best and not easy to follow because you have to watch for the emotion of the characters but man Wilson, Brody and Schwartzman rocked. They were hilarious. Overall I really dug the movie.

My Andersonian scale goes- Bottle Rocket, Rushmore, Darjeeling Limited, Royal Tennenbaum and Life Acquatic.

There have been a number of reviews about wes being shticky and a one note kind of guy. I do agree he needs to expand maybe sci-fi but the characters he presents are in all of us and real. but he is a good story teller and everything is so real and relatable.

Go watch it!

This is the first positive review I have heard so far. I'll probably still see it. I did enjoy Hotel Chevalier - despite the fact that Natalie Portman annoyed me.
