Traffic
Will a traffic or city planner explain to me why there is stop and go traffic when you design streets to move inone direction and filter into downtown during rush hour?

will someone tell me why no traffic lights in dc are synchronized (save for southbound 16th st)?
i also love the no-sensor intersections where i'm sitting at a light for 8 minutes, traffic piling up, meanwhile there is no cross-traffic using the green light.
