Since Turkey I have been craving all things American. It is sad but true for all the travel I love doing sometimes I can't wait to sink my teeth into a big juicy burger. So I wrangled some of my floor mates and off we went back to Spike Mendelshon's Good Stuff Eatery. I was excited my first expereince was messy and a tad greasy but I was still happy with everything.
Spike still mans the front and greets customers and he told the eager burger goers about a Dreamsicle Milkshake, ice cream and orange flavored goodness in a drinkable form...think Fanta in a milkshake. So i ordered the smokehouse burger, BBQ sauce, fried onions, bacon and cheese; an order of village fries(with thyme), and the dreamsicle shake. Its loud in their and I didnt hear how much me meal cost I just turned over my bank card. As we waited i heard one of my floormates mention $13 for her meal. Ouch. My curiosity got to me and I looked...eek $17. This isnt Kobe beef, there are no hidden truffles, no freshly made ice cream or oranges from valencia...what the fuck.
The Milkshake, dreamsicle...it was yummy but a $5 dollar shake better make me sing form the mountain tops and this didnt. It was good and clever and different but i wasnt blown away like a $5 shake should, As Vincent Vega would say, “That’s a pretty fucking good milkshake. I don’t know if it’s worth five dollars, but it’s a pretty fucking good milkshake!”
The fries- way too many and too much thyme. It was like I was eating a dried herb garden.
The Smokehouse was decently cooked and juicy. The sauce was not too sweet and burger and cheese nicely done. Still I wasnt blown away.
I think if I go back Im sticking with the bag lunch- cheeseburger fries and a coke $10...cheese and crakers that is still bloody expensive. $17 is a sushi dinner thats worth it. $17 burger meal not so much.
