My early years in our nations Capitol forced me to be a metrorider. I was an intern and had no car. It was easy to navigate Metro and I could go anywhere i wanted. It was a good life being stuck in a tube with the mass of commuter humanity on a daily basis. It felt very city like and their was a lots of hustling and bustling. But that was years and lifetimes ago.
Now I am older and never ride the metro even to Inaugural. Today I rode the metro in the first time in years. It was so dark and grimmy. There was a guy coughin up a lung, teens flirting, and people trying to get home. On my way up the escalators at Capitol South a women near the top dropped her bag and all her shiahe came tumbling down. i rushed up the stairs to help her and caught her iPhone as it tumbled. On my way out a flock of kids couldnt work their metro cards and I had to laugh.
Perspectives change but the city is the same.
