There is no Easter Bunny

Growing up I never believed in the Easter Bunny. I mean really , a human size bunny giving out treats. Why would anyone believe that. Santa is believable[ witches and Halloween are believable but the Easter Bunny, totally laughable. I went to Target on Friday and kids were getting their pictures taken with the Easter Bunny. What a racket, shouldn't we have a Christ like figure rising from the dead as the symbol of Easter. I'd rather see a Jesus risen from the dead at the mall handing out blessings vs the Easter Bunny.

From Wiki-- "In predominantly Roman Catholic Philippines, the morning of Easter (known in the national language as "Pasko ng Muling Pagkabuhay" or the Pasch of the Resurrection) is marked with joyous celebration, the first being the dawn "Salubong," wherein large statues of Jesus and Mary are brought together to meet, imagining the first reunion of Jesus and his mother Mary after Jesus' Resurrection. This is followed by the joyous Easter Mass." We totally should be doing this.

In Norway during Easter they have whodunit movies and everyone solves mysteries, We give out chocolate eggs...ughh. In Slovakia men whip women with a paddle to show them that they are sexy and the next day women can dump cold water on any man. We don't need that extreme but if this is the most important religious Holiday why not treat it better than a Easter Bunny.

i do miss celebrating Salubong. waking up at 4am to go to 5am mass, waiting thru the whole process and being awakened again with the sound of fireworks. when you're a kid, it seems like fireworks are the prettiest sight in the mass and wish every mass had one. =)
