No Good Fish Tacos in DC

Washington DC(Me): Are there any good fish tacos in DC?
Tom Sietsema: Try Oyamel or Taqueria Nacionale (sp) on the Hill.

i went to a little hole in the whole in my neighborhood called Surfside and I got the fish tacos. Mahi-Mahi with a corn salsa, guacamole and a spicy, lime sour cream. I also got a side of guac/chips and a drink and the grand total came to $19and this was for counter service. The food was a bit bland and over priced. The space is nice exposed brick adn well lit with hard wood table and chairs. i do think if things were seasoned accordingly it wouldnt be bad. I also think that they need to cut portion sizes in half and chop down the price and this place would be on the rotation.

It was way overpriced. That was a $12 meal . . . and it cost $19 and change. Outrageous.

You mentiones Sietsema but why didn't you try Oyamel or Nacionale?

Oyamel is nice. But it's a fine-dining interpretation of Mexico City street food which means that it's nice, the dishes are nice but it's not the same. It's lacking the soul that makes it.

BTW, fish tacos are really only popular in seaside Mexico where they typically grill it.
